Coarse Chum Net
What you’re looking at is your next ultimate stalking hookbait - and here’s everything you need to know…

Wanted: a bait product that is extremely light, holds a scent attractor and appears natural in the water (i.e. slow sinking). Found: Coarse Chum Nets! This brand-new product is the brainchild of Alford Tackle and is made from a light, loosely woven net with longitudinal fibres which imitates a piece of sodden bread and is designed to hold and then release scent attractant slowly into the water. It’s also totally reusable if the attractant is washed out. It could be your new No. 1 answer to outwitting pressured summer carp…

The big questions

This looks different, what the hell is it?
It sure is different, but it’s incredibly effective. It’s called the Coarse Chum Net and has been specifically designed for very opportunist fishing. Although on its own it’s very lightweight, its longitudinal fibres means it holds attractant very well and then slowly releases it into the water, directly on top of the hook. In essence it’s the ideal bait/method for when carp are sucking biscuits or bread off the surface.

Does it float or sink?
It’s designed to slowly sink, imitating a piece of sodden bread flake - but unlike bread, the Coarse Chum Net will be kicking out a ton of attraction! They also float when treated with the flotation stray.

So how do I fish it?
It should be tied directly to the hook or ring, but alternatively it can be attached by a Hair, glued or hook inserted. If you opt for the latter, the hook can actually be hidden inside the Chum Net so it’s completely out of view to the carp, but thanks to its soft, fluffy nature, when you strike the hook will easily pull through and take hold. With the hook hidden, it should then be dipped in one of the Coarse Chum liquids, and once cast out, the sodden-scented Chum will slowly sink under the weight of the hook.

What about using them with other liquids?
That’s totally fine, and liquids such as Goo and Kodex’s Ectoplasm work extremely well. The only thing to note is, regardless of what liquid you use, it should always be applied inside and then all over. This makes a negative buoyant ball of pure scent. How good is that?!

What’s the damage?
Coarse Chum Net are running an introductory price offer right now where you get 10 Chum Nets for £3.50, not the usual RRP of £4.00, and 20 for £6.50, not the RRP of £7.50. They also do a Big Mouth version which is currently on offer for £9.50 five. The Coarse Chum Liquids, which come in 100ml bottles, retail for £7.50 each. the-chum.net

Glug added and the hook is almost invisible, yet once you strike the hook will pull through easily and nail them!
The Big Mouth version ready to be glugged and dropped in front of a carp’s nose!
