ESP luggage collection

Rods/nets/clothing/end tackle heavyweights, ESP, has another ‘drop’ of products, and this time it includes a Terry Hearn-inspired rucksack

ESP: the big-fish, heritage-rich brand whose little logo currently seems to be everywhere we look right now. Last month they released a new range of rods and a landing net made in collaboration with their main man, Terry Hearn; this month they’ve given us sunnies and a large range of luggage, including what you see before you: two sizes of carryall and this, a perfectly-sized rucksack…

Compact but spacious: Although already known for producing sharp and functional products, it appears ESP has upped its game even further with the Rucksack 40ltr, thanks to retailing for just £29.95!

This swanky new rucksack is clearly one which ticks the two hardest boxes to get right when it comes to rucksack design. Getting a rucksack ergonomically correct whilst still making a practical fishing bag can be tricky. The mountaineering types are designed for comfort, meaning they’re usually deep, making it awkward to access and they also refuse to stand upright when not in use.

This new 40ltr ‘sack offers the best of both: exceptionally comfortable to carry, thanks to the padded back panel and sitting high on the back, whilst inside it offers a very generous capacity to house all of your kit.

Super comfortable: Thanks to the correct dimensions, it means the rucksack doesn’t have a tendency to hang off the back, making it exceptionally comfortable to carry.

Made from the same durable 900D PVC-backed nylon materials as the other luggage items in the ESP range (cooler bag, carryalls, etc.), it also features a reinforced base, three large zipped external pockets, with the front one being roomy enough to accommodate a large plastic tackle box.

Also on the exterior is a pair of adjustable webbing straps for carrying an unhooking mat, plus of course comfortable, well-padded adjustable shoulder straps and an adjustable sternum strap.

Pockets and straps: Along with clips for holding an unhooking mat, there are also plenty of padded straps and handles for increased comfort.

The main compartment is accessed through a zipped lid which features a tough, size 10 zip which is covered with a rain baffle. The inside is Tardis-like and although the overall dimensions are compact, the central compartment can accommodate a serious amount of gear whilst still being exceptionally comfortable to carry.

Super tough: The outer material is tough 900D PVC-backed nylon with a reinforced base to prevent wear and water ingress.

ESP Carryall Medium 50ltr

ESP has long been our go-to brand for quality, well-made, functional luggage, and this new 30ltr carryall has just re-cemented that knowledge and belief.

Lots of pockets: To help you organise your kit, ESP has designed the 30ltr Carryall with four external pockets and three internal ones.

For the travelling light, short session/overnight angler, this is the perfect sized carryall. Although compact, it can still accommodate a large amount of kit, and features three room zipped external pockets, including a front one which will soak up any medium-sized plastic tackle box. The rear open topped pocket is ideal for storing spare clothing and/or carp sacks, while the zipped lid to the central compartment features a padded buzzer bar/short bankstick pocket so those essentials are to hand for a quick set-up.

A ton of padding: Along with adjustable padded shoulder strap and carry handles you’ll find pockets for tackle boxes and buzzer bars.

Inside there is a zipped storage pocket on the underside of the lid and two handy storage pockets so small essential items can be stored easy to hand.

Just as with the Rucksack, there’s a ton of padding, from an adjustable shoulder strap to padded carry handles.

Give your back a rest and opt for this 50ltr barrow bag

Take a mountain of kit? Then it’s time to give your back a rest and opt for a barrow type bag – and this new 50ltr offering from ESP is a very good shout.

Inside the large, roomy central storage compartment, there are three pockets built onto the sidewalls. These are perfect for small tackle boxes, lead pouches etc. and for keeping essential items easily accessible.

The rear pocket will house carp sacks/clothing

Heavy-duty zips are used throughout

Outside, there are another three pockets – zipped this time – including a front pocket which will look after large plastic tackle boxes. And just like its smaller sibling, there’s a rear open topped pocket for storing clothing etc.

Finally, add in a compartment for your rod support systems; a padded, adjustable shoulder strap which is anchored to the main body of the bag with tough webbing loops, meaning there’s no plastic attachments which can weaken with age; and you’ve got one banger of a carryall/barrow bag.
