Illuminating the night

The most reliable bite alarm on the market now looks the most stylish too

There’s a good reason for our hyperventilation right now: today CARPology’s getting to see ATT’s new and eagerly-anticipated IW (Illuminated Wheel) Crystal Alarms. Thanks to repositioning the LED from the front face of the alarm to under the wheel some years back, the electronical-masters have now combined this with a new clear body which means the whole alarm glows beautifully in the chosen colour when it’s activated.

So what’s the benefit – apart from the obvious of it looking simply biblical? Well, whilst the under illuminated wheel version of the ATTs already offers much better peripheral visibility, wherever the angler may be in the swim, these clear case heads take that concept way further, as the whole alarm glows vividly with the colour of the LED. Another advantage of the light wheel and clear cases is that ‘takes’ don’t result in your night vision being “spoilt” by a bright, forward-facing LED.

Supplied with a two-magnet clear roller wheel as standard which can be changed to have a colour-match wheel to the LEDs, and they are now also available in 2, 4 and 6 magnet versions (see page 144) so you can adapt the sensitivity of the alarm to suit different angling situations.

And what about the rest of the alarm? Well, the head remains the same, with the core features which made the original ATTs (the lowercase ‘s’ stands for ‘silent’) such a worldwide hit. Those key features start with bulletproof reliability, which here we’re talking about 100% waterproof reliability. That reliability is thanks to ATT binning the buzzer head speaker and building in a transmitter to provide a fully wireless remote buzzer-receiver system.

The alarms can be purchased individually and are fully compatible with the Deluxe, Clear Bodied Deluxe and originally V2 ATTx receivers. Each buzzer comes with a full one year ATT Warranty and are available in the following colours: White, Red, Green, Orange, Purple, Yellow, Blue and Pink. Oh, and anglers with the original ATTS under lit alarms take note: clear cases can be bought to convert them to a clear alarm for just £19.99.
