JRC Cocoon Level Bed
Bedchair pioneer, JRC, have resurrected the Cocoon bed, and it’s all pimped-up for 2017…

Back in the day, if you wanted something a little more luxurious than a sunlounger to sleep on, you had Fox or JRC to choose from. Those two bedchair behemoths have been doing battle ever since and if you’re old enough to remember those days then the Cocoon name will be familiar. There’s a new family of Cocoon beds, called Levelbeds… more of which below...

The big five

1. Want a good bed on a budget?
The standard Cocoon Levelbed comes in at £169.99, which puts it in the lower mid-price bracket. You get a solid bed, with much of the most up-to-date functionality, including a flat sleeping profile. £189.99 gets you the Cocoon 2G Levelbed, which is a little more generously sized, but still perfectly affordable.

2. You’ve bought into the flat-profile thing…
Rightly so too. A flat bed with a pillow makes for a much more comfortable night’s sleep and all the Cocoon Levelbeds boast that.

3. You like convenience?
Of course you do. So it’ll please you to know that all the Levelbeds can be folded down with the sleeping bag in place. We mean, surely the days of trying to magic the bag back into its undersized stuff sack are long gone, right? Well, with the Levelbeds they have!

They lie totally flat

4. You want comfort, but aren’t willing to budge on weight.
Quite right. The sturdy frames on all the Cocoon Levelbeds are made from aluminium, which keeps the weight down, while giving incredible sturdiness. Even the larger 2G XL bed is eminently portable as a result.

They all fold up totally flat - even with a big bag inside
Built-in side pockets are a fab extra
Thanks to the double hinges, it means the bed not only lies flat, it means you can keep your bag inside
Large mud feet give the bed a really stable feel
Super padded, super soft, super comfortable!

5. You’ve got an eye for detail?
Well, you’ll be pleased to note the clever way in which the mattress is sprung. Rather than using tonnes of elastic to wrap the whole frame, JRC have come up with an economical way to elasticate their beds, which results in a firmer, more comfortable product. Flip one over and you’ll see that all the elastic runs up the middle of the bed, not the frame, keeping it super neat.
