How to tie a simple Corn-Aligner Rig

Devastating over spod mixes and particle baits

We’re sure most of you will have heard of the Mag-Aligner Rig. Well, this is an adaptation of that devastating rig. The rig utilises a piece fake corn over the eye of the hook instead of a maggot and is perfect for use over spod mixes or with PVA Sticks.

01 Take ten-inches of a supple braid.

02 Now attach the hooklink material to the hook eye with a simple Grinner Knot.

03 Pass a baiting needle through the corn. Pierce the thin end first and only go through the top half as shown.

04 Take the end of your material and hook it onto the needle and thread the corn down to the hook.

05 Now position the corn over the eye of the hook; you want the eye to sit in the middle of the plastic bait.

06 Take a Large Korda Sinker and thread it down the hooklink material. This will pin it to the lakebed.

07 At the end of the hooklink material, you will now need to tie a simple Figure-Of-Eight-Loop Knot.

08 Take your in-line lead and tap out the hard insert from the centre; this can be discarded.

09 Replace this with a Korda Shockleader Sleeve. These are far safer and the soft inner-core houses the swivel better.

10 Thread your line through the lead, Shockleader Sleeve and tie to a swivel and then attach a Stik Clip.

11 Next, create a small PVA Stick and pass a baiting needle through it. You want to exit to the side of the top as shown.

12 Attach the loop on your hooklink to your baiting needle and then slide the Stick down the hooklink.

13 This is the reason you come out the side of the Stick, because the bait is attached to the hook, not a Hair.

14 Now you need to thread a piece of silicon down your hooklink and attach the loop to the Stik Clip.

15 Having a ring and a Stik Clip will give the rig lots more movement and this gives a better hooking potential.

16 Push the silicon over the top of the Stik clip. This will stop the hooklink from coming off during a cast.

17 So there you have it, a finished Corn-Aligner Rig. This is perfect over particles or casting to showing fish.

How To... Dress a hook like Joe Morgan

01 Take some marabou feathers and hold them along the shank of the hook.

02 Whip your hooklink around the shank and feathers Knotless Knot style.

03 Thread down a piece of fake maize and push over the eye of the hook.

04 With the corn over the eye, trim off the feathers to the length you require.
