Chestnut Pool

Arm-aching action set in stunning surroundings, Chestnut Pool is the venue for you this summer.

Situated in the Bedfordshire village of Langford, near Biggleswade, Chestnut Pool lies within a tranquil countryside setting, yet is only a short drive from the A1. This provides good access for anglers wishing to sample the day ticket fishing provided by this family run venue. With plenty of friendly advice available, combined with a well-stocked lake, the fishery is great place to visit for beginners wishing to learn, as well as the more advanced angler looking to polish their skills.

The lake is three-acres in size and holds a large head of both mirror and common carp in the five- to ten-pound bracket. There is also a large number of double-figured fish to over twenty-pounds. Due to this abundant stock of carp, the action can come thick and fast with anglers regularly catching large numbers of fish during day-sessions and overnight carpers happily not receiving too much sleep.

There are twenty swims offering casting access to the two islands and eight corner swims which offer quieter areas of water that often throw up the bigger specimens. Hard gravel and areas of clay are good spots to look for when presenting baits in the pool, which holds depths between four- to six-feet. Most tactics will work well, PVA presentations in particular, such as small PVA Sticks or solid bags fished over a light scattering of bait.

If you’re looking for more in-depth guide into fishing for carp there is also a tuition service available at Chestnut. With thirty years of carping experience, fishery owner, Pete Wilson is a fully qualified level-2 coach and able to tailor lessons to meet your needs.

Other facilities include secure parking, on-site toilet, disabled access and tackle shop stocked with everything from bait and clothing to the refreshments you’ll need after enjoying the hectic carp action of Chestnut Pool!
