Tanyard Fisheries
Three lakes holding carp to over thirty-pound

Set on the edge of the Sheffield Forest there are seven lakes available to fish at Tanyard Fisheries, catering for every angler whatever their style or ability. The lakes were first constructed by owner Bernie Brown in 1987 and over the last 25 years have matured into beautiful rich waters containing specimen-sized fish of all species. Each lake has been constructed with the angler, as well as wildlife in mind, having been planted with a variety of water plants to give an aesthetically pleasing look. The grounds of the fishery are extremely well looked after with short-cropped grass and well-located car parks, so only a short walk is needed to reach any peg on the fishery.

Specimen Lake One is the ideal water for the stalking carper with its two-acres or margins packed with small leaf lilies, overhanging willows and rushes. The wooded-side of the lake gives intimate areas between lilies and snags where as the grass bank offers clearer areas to fish. The lake holds a good number of twenty-pound fish, as well as several thirties. Specimen Lake Two is the smallest of the carp lakes, but holds the biggest rewards with fish to over thirty-pound, the biggest of which reaching a weight of 38lb! The largest of the three Specimen lakes, Lake Three, again holds carp over thirty-pounds, as well as catfish to over fifty. There are large beds of varying coloured irises around its margins, as well as big beds of rushes and reeds with overhanging alders splitting the swims up.

The fishery facilities are also of a very high standard with ladies and gents toilets being of a modern and clean design, plus a washing up room is also available. Hot food can also be delivered to your swim, catered for by the fishery lodge that also provides snacks and a range of bait and end tackle. Is there anything else a day ticket angler could want? Not really!
