Toby's Blog - Braving The Elements

With the weather looking carpy and the low-pressure forecast to continue, I organised a quick night with my good mate, Will. After picking him up from work and cramming two people’s worth of kit into my tiny Starlet (which looked like it was about to burst, I was incredibly concerned with the strange struggling noises it was making en-route), we managed to get down the lake for around 4:00. With the wind due to swing around from a northerly to a southerly, I was keen to get on the end of it ready for it to turn. Well, with the wind swinging it changed from being lovely and overcast to torrential rain with very strong gusts of wind. In the fading light I managed to get two small Naked Chod rigs launched out onto their spots: one at around 60yds with a kilo of mixed Dynamite Baits Red Fish and White Chocolate & Coconut Cream spread with a small Spomb, and the second on a single hookbait at around 80yds.  Read more …

Wychwood Essex Carp Championships

May 2011 saw the 1st Essex Carp Championships take place at Newlands Hall Fishery in the outskirts of Chelmsford, Essex. After three heats and a final one lucky pair was crowned “The Essex carp Champions 2011” they walked away with some cracking prizes and a nice fistful of cash.

The 2012 event though is set to be massive. The event is now sponsored by Wychwood, there are five qualifiers on four different waters, the prize money has gone up to £3000 and Wychwood are providing hundreds of pounds worth of prizes; it is set to be a mega event!
To run alongside this year’s event, Wychwood and Nutrabaits will also be holding an Open Demonstration day and junior event on Saturday May 19th (The day of the final) at Newlands Hall. Read more …

The Future Of Zig Rigs
