The Big One at Farnborough

The Big One at Farnborough

That time of the year has come again for the long awaited, fantastic two days of buzzing excitement, free offerings, promotions and celebrity anglers, as we all gear up for ‘THE BIG ONE’

Being held this year on the 10th and 11th March at Farnborough Airfield, this is arguably the only show in the UK that is going forward year on year, the only show that is now famous for its fully carpeted 12,000 square metre space, of top class carp fishing gear, theatre seminars and celebrity hot tips.

Never resting on their laurels, the show’s organiser’s, Vince and Colin, continually strive to improve the show, introducing new holiday companies from as far afield as Thailand, Kenya, France, Spain, Ireland and Argentina; promoting most of the countries’ leading bait manufacturers and hosting the countries’ leading discount wholesalers and retails.

Of course the questions “What’s the best PVA to use?”  “What are the pros and cons of using inline lead and a safety clip?”, “When and why should I be using what rigs?”, “What bite alarms should I buy?” and the inevitable “How do I successfully catch more carp in the winter?” will be key on everyone’s lips.  The questions will be endless and the answers will be there, at your fingertips, as you browse the show’s fantastic offerings and listen to the experts talk, discuss and advise.  From Keith Arthur, Team Korda, John Wilson, Tom Maker, Matt Hayes, Bill and Virginia Rushmer, Ian “Chilly” Chilcott, Keith Williams, Ian Russell, Rob Maylin, Martin Locke, Chris Rose, Steve Spurgeon, Chris Ball and Mitch Smith, you’ll be chatting and sharing stories with your angling heroes.

The anglers who attended last year had so much to say about the show… “It seems a little overwhelming standing talking tackle to Danny Fairbrass.  It’s now so much more than just a tackle fair.  Being able to meet angling stars is a dream come true.  Plus I did get some real bargains.”

And who was it that said last year, “… only one disappointment, having to go home, eventually!!”

But we don’t have to go into all that yet; all you have to do in preparation for ‘THE BIG ONE’ as you make your plans on how to navigate a fishing world that’s bigger than the size of two football pitches, is to start preparing the sign that you’ll be hanging on your door … ‘Gone Fishing!!
