Editor’s letter

THE EDITOR’S LETTER
Two monumental events have taken place this month – and both revolve around that rather large chap who’s on the front cover, Mr. Ian ‘Chilly’ Chillcott. The first point is, he’s back! Having appeared in issue 1 of CARPology, we’ve gone a full-fat 76 issues without him. The second is, we’ve roped him into contributing not once, but twice in the same issue.
The first is in our recent revamped Below The Surface series which now sees us spending a day with one of the “professional” anglers, photographing their every move from the bank and then sending in Rob Hughes to snap it all underwater. The second is he’s in The Rotary Letter, but more on that later.
For those of you who’d like to cash in on Chilly’s ‘can’t-stop-catching-them-pie’, may I suggest you turn to page 34 sharpish? Because this month we’ve increased the ‘illustrations budget’ so we’ve got improved maps and diagrams, making it clearer and easier to understand how Chillcott goes about his business, because let’s not forget that cover line: ‘why he’s the best we’ve tested so far!’ He’s impressive. “Amazing” is now Hughesy describes it. And now you’ve got the perfect stepping-stone to follow in his carp-catching success boots.
Elsewhere, he’s making his debuted appearance with a strong and rather tad controversial contribution in The Rotary Letter (P80), we’ve got a Tank Test (P94) special where James Anderson tests 20 of the latest boiled food releases, Jon Finch (P50) has some clever floater tricks and then of course there’s the newly expanded Upgrade section (P19) to learn from.
Summer’s well and truly here and you’ve got the perfect carp angler’s manual to ensure you make the most of it. Enjoy the issue.
