Like many of you, I’m finding it hard to believe that we’re now down to the last few weeks of 2009, let alone the end of a decade. Y2K promised so much: computers freezing, cash points spitting out free money and planes dropping from the sky. Then the clocks struck 12 and… nothing. However, the Noughties did deliver plenty in angling terms, as we reveal in our Goodbye Noughties feature which starts on page 6.
Of course there were lots of utterly brilliant things about 2009. Dave Lane for instance, he never let us down. Not once. And you can catch up with what he got up to this month along with a review of his year on page 38. Then there’s Jon McAllister, who is back this month on page 52 with his From The Bivvy series. Jon is currently on a mission to catch The Lady from St. Ives and if he does, he’ll write himself into the record books as the first angler to catch two sixties. Once again Jon gives us a brilliant, written-on-the-bank account of how he’s getting on.
The Rotary Letter (P60) has of course served us well throughout ’09 and there’s no better way than to see out the year with some very thought-poking, very-much-to-the-point material from Nick Helleur and first time Rotarian, Julian Cundiff.
There are of course many other standout articles from this year, many of which will be making a comeback in twenty-ten. The Tank Tests are returning, but this time we’ll be trying something very different, as will Celebrity Cricket Fishing. And if everything comes together as we’re hoping, we’ll get to see how carp shoal up (and exactly where) in the winter in our award-winning Below The Surface features. Suffice to say 2010 should be a very good year…
All that leaves me to say is I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and here’s to a belting New Year. Enjoy and thank you for your on-going support, it’s truly appreciated.
