June 07 –Finding the ‘right spot’ resulted in this 27lb common and two other twenties.
The Underwater Issue
If there is one thing that you can guarantee in carp fishing, that’s “trends”. Look, we had the “bloodworm revolution”, the camo madness, next along came carbon – and then some methods/theories go full circle too: fishing the Hair on the bend of the hook, long nylon hooklinks, fluoro baits…
But with the latest crazy of ‘seeing stuff underwater’ we’re pretty sure it is here to stay for a long time. Now while some traditionalists are choking on their tea, others just can’t get enough of it. So is it a good or bad thing?
Being able to see how fish reach to rigs, baiting patents and baits, plus how food falls through the water and which main lines show up most can surely only be classed as brilliant thing? We’ve discussed it on the bank, whilst at the café and down the pub, and the outcome from us is “most differently. It’s amazing.”
If you’re one of those that is still unsure, then head for page 36 where you can read Rob Hughes’ Underwater Diary and see how he’s got on this month, plus how he’s overcome problems you and I are faced when he dons the wetsuit and snorkel and snaps what the problem is and then changes his approach to over right it.
On top of that, fish farmer Ben Gratwicke (P48) talks about finding the ultimate feeding spot, and we give you eight gadgets which will make finding that spot a damn sight easier. And on page 55 we have the ‘kings of underwater knowledge’ – Team Korda (Joe Morgan, Ali Hamidi and Damian Clarke) in The Rotary Letter.
To finish off, we’ve got Jon McAllister, Simon Scott, Nigel Sharp, Pete Regan, Super Speed Carping! and Tactic Know-How. It’s going to be a good month!
