September 07
I can’t remember the exact date, but it must have been during one of the many raining days we’ve had during the last two months that one of us perked up whilst we were huddled around the office table on a lunch break. “So what’s next? We’ve themed the magazine around bait, weed, day ticket fishing and God knows what else… Where to now?”
We sat and thought for a minute and then looked at the facts. We needed to put together a magazine that summed up our cover corner flash: “The Complete Carpers Bible!” After a little haggling with some of the contributors and members of the angling trade, they were all happy, and this is the result: a CARPology which still contains all the best and funniest bits, but with a damn sight more.
Technology (unless you ask your nana) is a brilliant thing and we take a look at the kit that you’ll be using tomorrow and far into the future in Tackle Upgrade (P6). We’ve got all the funniest bits in Screamer like Gallery, Carp Banter and Centrepin Challenge, plus your chance to win five 24hrs tickets for you and a mate on Watermark’s Bradley’s Lake (P14).
There’s always been a debate about what style of fishing is the most exciting, so we used Dave Benton (P33) to prove it once and for all. We’ve brought back the Q&A pages with Technical Know-How (P40): the section where we have wisdom by the bait-boat-load thanks to our experts. Jon McAllister (P26) tells the story of his latest whackingly big brace and underground angling legend, Kenny Dorsett (P43) will try and convince you to why tight lines are better than slack.
We’ve given you a fine line-up in the Big Carpers sections, plus all the latest toys, gadgets and gizmos in The BREAKdown (P113). And of course no CARPology would be complete without a pretty girl – just like Laura Barnes on page 127. It’s everything that you loved about CARPology before, but just with extra really good bits throw in. And you won’t find it anywhere else. Enjoy the month and enjoy the issue.
