Carl Sharp's 5 steps to success this September

Five steps to put you on the right track for an alarm screaming month from Carl Sharp

Step 1

“Glug your freebies in a very rich oil when the weather is warmer. Personally, I like to use Solar’s Slayer Salmon Oil, which will definitely help pull fish down from the surface layers by constantly sending up streams of oily goodness!”

Step 2

“Don’t be afraid to reel in and go searching for them. If you aren’t seeing any activity in front of you, it doesn’t mean that the carp can’t be found elsewhere around the lake. Start by looking in snaggy margins and reedbeds.”

Step 3

“There have been many times in the past that I’ve heard, “These fish don’t feed on Mixers in here, you’re wasting your time!” This needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, as all carp will let there guard down and succumb to a Mixer from time to time, so never rule it out.”

Step 4

“During times of high air pressure and ‘scratching times’, there is always a chance with Zigs. With the aid of some great products to help get the best from this tactic, it’s always worth trying your luck through the various layers. Solar’s Up&Down Mix is well worth a mention here as its unique fizzing action will attract passing carp.”

Step 5

“Make sure that you are happy with your rig placement on your chosen areas. Even if it takes you ten casts to hit that little spot, don’t stop until you are happy. As settling for less and a cast that is ‘good enough’ will often cost you that bonus fish.”
