Lewis Porter's No Aggro Hinged Stiff Link

Before a herd of Facebook touchscreen warriors jump on this: NO, this isn’t a new name for the Hinged Stiff Link!

Before a herd of Facebook touchscreen warriors jump on this: NO, this isn’t a new name for the Hinged Stiff Link! It’s simply thanks to the components Lewis Porter, YouTube’s latest vlogging sensation, now uses to put together his Hinged Stiff Link, is what makes this traditionally tricky rig to tie, a complete doddle, and here’s how…

What you need:

Edges Ready-Tied Short Chod Rig (size 4)
Camotex Semi Stiff in 25lb
XL Anti-Tangle Sleeve

“I’m not a newcomer to the Hinged Stiff Rig party; I’ve been using it for over 10 years and like so many, it’s my go-to rig as it just nails the big ‘uns,” states Lewis. “I used to tie the hook section up myself, but thanks to the advent of the Fox Edges Ready-Tied Chods, which I cannot tie better myself, I just use those and save myself time and aggro. The boom section, (which would normally be Camotex Semi Stiff in 25lb, but I will switch to the ‘Soft’ version if I’m fishing over weed or a really soft bottom), is, on average, between six- and eight-inches. I really love the XL Anti-Tangle Sleeves, as I like to use heavy leads and this sleeve stops the boom from wrapping around the lead on the cast or when I’m lowering the rig in from a boat.”

Whilst Lewis does use this rig a lot, he does also favour the 360ş Rig for when he doesn’t want his pop-up to be so blatant off the deck. And if he’s using tigers or wafters/bottom baits, Lewis will switch over to a simple Knotless Knot with a curved shank style hook.
