A coated fluorocarbon

2015 has been an incredible year for both Taska and us. They launched Deceptive fluorocarbon main line (a fluoro that does actually cast) and we caught more fish. They gave us more Baseline Tungsten accessories and our end tackle blended into the lakebed better. Last month they delivered Evolve – a genuine improvement when it came to a leader material. And now things get even better this month with the release of their first ever coated hooklink material: Evolve Shurelink.

“Shurelink lifts the bar when it comes to hooklink materials,” Steve Tasker, headcheese of the brand proudly tells us. “Just like the Evolve Leader material, this is another revolutionary material which is manufactured from 80% braided fluorocarbon fibres and 20% Dyneema. The result is an ultra-thin in diameter hooklink which is incredibly strong.”

Due to the composite of the material, Evolve Shurelink can stretch up to 12% and thanks to that 80/20 mix, it also means it’s incredibly abrasion resistant. The outer material, of which there’s two colours: lovely Weedy Green or Camou Brown,
strips really nicely, and although straightening over steam is the one with any coated material, you can get it to lay perfectly straight by simply running it through your hands. Oh, and of course because it’s 80% fluorocarbon, it does actually sink to the lakebed – and stay there.
