Advanta CSX Carp Rods

Reliable, high performance, good looking and good value for money. Advanta’s latest offering, the CSX V2 Carp Rod, does all of that and more…

It’s okay, CARPology sympathises. You want a top-end rod performance without the eye-watering price tag. A rod which casts well, feels even better during a battle, and looks deliciously good on the buzz bars. But rods like that don’t exist without a two-zero-zero behind the pound sign, right? But there may be another way. Advanta. Their V2 of the CSX rod really is something special and ticks all of those boxes, including the one your missus/bank manager really care about: price.

This updated version carries many hallmarks of a rod twice - actually make that three times its price. Built on one of the slimmest blanks we’ve seen at this price point – a super slim, reinforced 24T carbon blank – the CSX V2 also has a multi-layered structure to maximise its high power to diameter ratio.

Angling Direct are currently running a ‘Buy 2, Get 1 FREE’ deal on these rods, so that’s three rods for under £90!

Performance-wise differs greatly depending on the test curve you opt for. The lightest and shortest model in the collection, 10ft 3lb, is a more progressive fish playing rod, whilst the brute of the pack, the 12ft 3.5lb, is designed to accurately cast big leads and PVA bags to extreme distances. Going back to that 10ft version, not only does this cutdown length vastly improve casting accuracy, giving more control in confined swims, but it’s also ideal for boat anglers where shorter casting distance is required.

In terms of cosmetics, all models are fitted with an 18mm DPS reel seat, Shrink Wrap Lower Grip, lightweight LTS guides, a laser etched butt cap, and on all the 12ft models you’ll find a 50mm butt ring. They are stunning, but then nothing’s been left to chance. Advanta set out to make a real statement with the CSX V2 – both with the cosmetics and, of course, the price.

Advanta CSX V2 from £44.99

Ah yes, that mouthwatering price tag Advanta has stuck on these. Normally the 10ft models retail for £54.99 a piece and the 12fts £59.99, but right now you’ll find there’s a £10 saving on each model - so £44.99 and £49.99 - and better still, Angling Direct are currently running a ‘Buy 2, Get 1 FREE’ deal - so that’s three rods for under £90!
