AVID CARP 2023 Tackle Launch round-up

Avid’s autumn 2023 launch isn’t all about top-end bivvies (think: EXO+) and beds (think: Benchmark)—they’ve also created a whole new sub-brand of big-ticket items for those on a tighter budget, and it goes by the name of Revolve

Avid Revolve System: The new Revolve range of beds and systems is a huge comfort upgrade for those new to carp fishing or who are on a tighter budget. As well as measuring the same as the brand’s premium Benchmark Beds and Systems—that’s a whopping 200 x 80cm for the standard model and 210 x 90 for the X model—they also share the same completely flat frame design with a super padded foam mattress. A dual-layer sleep system with a duvet top gives you maximum snugness and supporting you are 6 Rocksteady legs on the Standard and 8 on the X size.

Revolve Bed: These insanely affordable beds mimic the Revolve System right down to the strap and buckle system that packs them away super compact, even with your sleeping bag inside—but there’s the only difference: these don’t feature that gooey soft dual-layer sleep system. The size, the leg count and system, the padding and Avid’s Revolve colourway are all exactly the same. However, losing that sleep system has just saved you from lugging around an extra 3kg on the Standard model.

Revolve 1 Person Bivvy: Avid’s platinum EXO+ bivvy is every angler’s dream bankside home but a wallet catastrophe for those on a tighter budget. The new Revolve 1-Person is a brilliant alternative for those with tighter purse strings and/or those who are weight-conscious. The bivvy itself, which is of a pram-hood design, weighs just 5kg (and 9.5kg as a complete system), which is remarkable when you consider it’s made from a 10,000mm hydrostatic head khaki fabric (which is such a lovely colour), has acres of space thanks to its square shape design and a large front peak. It comes supplied with a lightweight groundsheet, heavy-duty pegs, oversized zipped carry bag and features a two-way letterbox system door that has an integrated mesh panel, as well as PVC and solid fabric options. It’s also available in a 2-Person model and Overwraps for both models are available.

Revolve 60” Brolly System: While we reserve a certain level of nostalgia for vintage-style brolly systems in 2023, CARPology can’t help but lush over this lightweight 60” fibreglass frame offering. For those of you who like to be nimble, then this ticks those boxes: just 7.5kg, lightweight groundsheet and measures 185 x 250 x 138cm. However, this also ticks both the ‘Comfort’ box: 10,000mm hydrostatic head fabric and large front panel which can be rolled back up or zipped off to create an open-fronted shelter—and the ‘Stylist’ box: Avid zip pullers, screen prints, Jelly badges and supplied with their awesome Avid Cam storm poles.

Revolve Rods: If one product can sum up Avid’s current swagger and confidence, then it is surely this might range of rods. Building on its premium line-up of new rods—Elevate—has enabled Avid to produce something quite exceptional for an insanely low RRP. A low resin carbon construction for better-than-average recovery for a rod in this price bracket: tick. Minima style guide: tick. Anti-frap ceramic tip guide: tick. Matt black finish: tick. Full shrink-wrap handle with a small flared grip: tick. Under £40: TICK! Available in the following lengths and test curves: 10ft 3lb, 10ft 3.5lb, 12ft 3lb, 12ft 3.5lb and 13ft 3.5lb.

Revolve Landing Nets 42” Net 1pc 6ft: If you’ve been hankering for a beautiful new net but can’t justify spending a month’s worth of fuel on one, then your prayers have been answered yet again by Avid. There are two models to choose from, both coming with 42” meshes, but one is sold with a 1-piece 6ft handle, whereas the other has a 2-piece 8ft handle. Designed to complement the Revolve rods means a lot of black: matt black handle, black CNC aluminium spreader block, 80cm soft black mesh and, of course, a black net bag. And all of this beauty will only set you back £54.99 and £64.99.
