Leading Light

ND is known for its love of tech, but their latest creation, Air Light Sounder, combines light and sound to make life a bit easier when darkness falls

1. It isn’t a standalone product
The Air Light Sounder isn’t a standalone product—it has been designed to work and interact with any ND alarm or their Smart Band, but unfortunately it won’t be teaming up with any Sirens, Delks or Microns that you may own.

 2. Different colours
You can choose between three colours of light depending on the situation—red, green and white—and the brightness can be adjusted in four levels. It’s also fully rechargeable via USB.

3. The Smart Band can control it
If you own the aforementioned product, you can switch the Air Light Sounder off/on via your wrist (for example, when you’re inside the sleeping bag). The device will always remember the last set light colour when controlled via the Smart Band, however, when a bite alarm is triggered, it will always turn on with the red light, to help keep your night vision. Clever touch, right?

4. Nice sound
Just as with their S9s, K9s and N1 alarms, the speaker used here is once again of a high quality and rings out a very pleasant sound to the ear. And talking of the latter alarm—this is the perfect partner for the N1 as that doesn’t have a speaker built-in due to its teeny £2 coin size.

5. Mounting options
There are a couple of ways of doing this. If you want to illuminate the front of the swim, then screw it onto a single bankstick. However, if you require light inside the bivvy—i.e. to help put your footwear on—then it can be attached to a bivvy table using the standard thread or with their clever P11 magnetic quick-release system.
