Modular Power Supply

If you’re scrolling through Instagram for hours on end, or binge-watching Stranger Things on Netflix, even the most muscular power banks are going to run out of juice at some point. The solution? This modular power unit from New Direction

Modular Power Supply

Battery life has improved, but if you’re on a multi-day angling adventure, you’ll need a boost for your phone, tablet, laptop and camera(s). Unlike all previous power banks we’ve tested at CARPology, the ‘Osprey’ from ND is the first modular powerpack we’ve laid our hands on, meaning you can upgrade its initial 20800 mAh rating to a whacking 62400 mAh! Inside the main compartment are three slots and here you can add or remove batteries to increase its output.

To deliver that power to your devices in the most efficient way, ND have fitted three USB-A with QC 3.0 and two USB-C sockets, with the latter sockets supporting Power Delivery (PD) of 5, 9 and 12v up to 3A.

There’s more to this battery pack than sheer horsepower. Rather than a big clunky chunk of plastic, the Osprey comes in a practical design of a military canteen, with both a shoulder strap and handle. There are also two side pockets—one for housing the supplied charger and the second for additional cables.

When it comes to providing a power source, the Osprey delivers exceptionally well. Yes, at first glance the price tag might make your wallet break out into a slight sweat (but then all power banks are priced in this region), it will ensure you’re playing Wordscapes, watching YouTube and double tapping Instagram pics indefinitely whilst bankside.
