Myles Gibson's Post-Spawn Mix

Myles serves up a carp, calorific concoction to satisfy those hungry, summer carp...

Once they have spawned, carp turn into eating machines, and nothing, it seems, will fill them up. Given their appetite, I use a lot of bait in the summer. Normally, I will spread it across a few different areas, so I always have a baited spot to fall back on. What with the birdlife on the lakes I fish, and with the venues being so clear, I use a mix of particles, pellets and boilies, all of various different sizes. This helps to ensure that I always have bait on my spots. I use cheap particles like pigeon conditioner more in the summer, just because of the sheer volume I introduce. I always make sure, though, that there are some nuts mixed in, as this gives me different hookbait options. Pellets and boilies are also included, but if I add pellets, I will do so just before I use the bait, as they’ll turn to mush if left mixed for too long.

What you need:
l Pigeon conditioner
l Pure Calanus Liquid
l Bloodworm Pellets (2.3mm, 4mm and 6mm)
l Krill Active Boilies (16mm) chopped and whole
l Krill Pellet (6mm)
l Crushed tiger nuts

HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Pour some prepared pigeon conditioner into a bucket

2. Follow with a helping of crushed tiger nuts

3. Add a mixture of whole and chopped boilies

4. Mix a selection of pellets and add these to the bucket

5. Glaze the mix with some Pure Calanus Liquid

6. Mix everything together and use within an hour to prevent it turning to mush
