Nash Tackle: New Kit 2022/23

Here are the most desirable and delightful products we saw at the Nash Tackle trade show a few weeks back

TITAN UPGRADE
The T1 and T2s in ‘Pro’ size are behemoths. Height room has been increased to over 6ft, the now-standard removable inner mesh capsule keeps bugs out, whilst the sides can be rolled back to let its occupant(s) enjoy a panoramic view, still bug-free. This is bankside living on a different scale (and minus those hefty interest rates)

The key takeaway from this year’s Titan upgrades is height—they’ve upped it, and by some margin. If you want a compact, carpy, or, as Nashy himself so eloquently put it, ‘bivvy rat’ style shelter, then opt for a Nash Hide. If your bankside living desires are Georgian house-esque—i.e.—maximum visibility and greater headroom, then one of these new Titans is for you.

The range is now made up of three models, with two sizes for each one: Titan T1 and T2, Titan Pro T1 and T2 and Titan Camo Pro T1 and T2. If luxury and comfort is at the forefront of your decision-making—whether that’s road tripping, holiday carping or campaign fishing weekend after weekend—the Pros come with all the bells and whistles. From armoured blackout nylon to an extended forward storm peak design to prevent rain ingress whilst maintain visibility, and a removable inner mesh capsule with PVC base which comes as standard.

There are plenty of places to hang and store essentials too: a central hanging hook for lights and/or insect zappers, plus two more on each side of the mesh capsule doorway for receivers, lights, clothing or head torches. And even with two beds down either side in the T2 models, it still leaves a huge communal area in the middle.

BOAT LIFE

Nash’s first range of inflatable boats debuted at this year’s show. Here’s everything you need to know about them

Boat Life Inflatable Ribs
This handsome range of boats—180, 240 and 320—is the net result of Nash Tackle’s first attempt at the inflatable vessel market. From the smallest, undercover baiting operations (180 size) to dropping rigs in the biggest and most hostile venues (320), this range has it covered.

They are all made with toughened 0.9mm PVC bases, beneath 0.7mm PVC tubes for increased strength and resilience. The carbon fibre reinforced plastic deck slats makes for a fast assembly and protection against floor damage, whilst there are three extra thick additional rubbing strips on the base, plus rubbing strips on the side walls of the tubes to protect against damage from mooring, concrete or natural banks.

What is also great are the black fixtures and fittings: black aluminium oars, black wooden seat and black PVC reinforced anchor point. Each boat comes complete with a carry bag, puncture repair kit and foot pump. If you can’t be arsed with all the leg work, then Nash also has an Electric Air Pump on offer which features an LCD pressure display, inflation and deflation ports and runs off a 12V car cigarette lighter connection.

Boat Life Electric Engine
From the company that transformed how quickly we move around on the bank with their electric Power Barrows, this new range of electric engines is the perfect partner for the Boat Life Inflatable Ribs. There’s power-aplenty with two sizes of engine (45lb and 65lb) to suit different size venues and boat, and both feature multiple forward and reverse thrust options. Along with an extended length black aluminium shaft, blue LED power indicator display, you have 5 forward speed options and 3 in reverse.

SCOPE CLOTHING
Whether you’re battling frost and big-ass snowflakes, standing for hours in gushing rain or trying to avoid getting eaten by giant mozzies, the 2022/2023 Alan Blair-inspired Scope Clothing range has something for everyone. Here are our three favourite picks…

1. Scope Knitted Crew Jumper
Attention, wannabe Yateley carpy crew members: Nash has a drool-inducing chunky knitwear jumper. Unlike traditional knitted jumpers which are made from heavy wool—particularly when it gets wet—the Knitted Crew is manufactured with high performance stretch-fit fibres, meaning it’s light, crisp and easy to wear. It also ticks the warm, windproof and water-resistant boxes thanks to a smooth nylon inner lining. And don’t fret about your partner shrinking it by three sizes. Thanks to that clever material, it’s complete non-shrink, even at high washing or tumble dryer temps! Available in S to XXXL.

2. Scope Poncho
Weighing no more than a medium tomato, but offering considerably more in the way of weather protection, this new poncho offers total waterproofing, impressive aeration, and packs down into a tiny pocket. Along with complete coverage for your body when standing, kneeling or crouching, there are also press stud closures down the side of the Poncho which allows it to be opened up carp tarp style. You can then peg down two eyelets and tie or suspend the twin metal eyelets at the leading edge to form a lightweight lean to and windbreak to shelter or sleep under.

3. Scope Waterproof Smock
Pretty and practical, this Waterproof Smock protects not just against the elements but blends all sorts of handy features to take bankside roaming to the next comfort level. The enlarged hood offers protection from chilling winds and driving rain, whilst the Smock’s ace card—a concealed pouch at the base of the central zip—reveals a stashaway mosquito mesh face cover! This quickly zips around the leading edge of the hood, leaving generous internal space for head movement and comfort, but keeps all biting insects away.

LR REELS
You don’t have to fork over £1,000 to own a set of reels like these. £500 will do it…

The buy-in for a set of three Nash Scope reels starts around £400, and for that you get exquisitely made, gorgeous looking, hardworking reels. Now, for the first time, the Essex-based company is adding a bigger reel to their collection, and it goes under the subrand of LR Reels.

There are three models within the range—6000, 8000 and 10000—and whilst the smaller sibling is perfectly suited on 6ft Scope and Dwarf rods, the two bigger models are designed for all out distance work on 12 and 13ft rods. Featuring an extended stroke spool with super slow oscillation, custom style carbon clutch caps and understated cyan blue graphics to tie in with the rest of the Nash branding, the body is as eye-pleasing as the line lay. Nash hasn’t finished there either: a line-friendly casting clip, fast drag, floating line rotor guard, anti-twist line roller and a gear ratio of 4.9:1 means retrieval on those extreme casts is quick. By our reckoning, this makes the new LR reels something of a bargain. From £99.99.
