Old School Meets New School

Carp Tart’s clever new bobbins mix the best of both worlds

Yawn… more new bobbins, what’s the crack here?
These are Carp Tart’s Line Kind Bobbins and the Kent-based company freely admit it’s tricky to improve the standard indicator, but they’ve applied their exacting standards (and fondness for PTFE!) to these beauties.

I’m intrigued…
So are we, and we can’t put it any better than the design brief followed by Carp Tart themselves. They said they wanted bobbins that “sit up like hungry Labrador puppies at dinner time, not gripping [the line] like a Rottweiler on the postman’s leg”!

That’s brilliant! What did they come up with?
These all-white stunners, made from what Carp Tart call ‘god’s own’ PTFE, are the result. The old-school-looking metal crooks on the top of each bobbin evokes memories of monkey climbers from years gone by but they actually have a magnetic clip to one side allowing the bobbin to release when you pick up the rod, but not fall off in high winds. The Line Kind Bobbins are also light enough to fish slack, yet substantial enough to indicate drop back when fishing with a tighter line.

Okay, I get it: old-fashioned aesthetics with modern functionality. Anything else I need to know?
There are isotope slots for illumination and you can find more about Carp Tart and their innovative items and humorous product descriptions at carp-tart.com and on their social media pages.

And how much…
They come in packs of 3 (just the heads) and retail for £25.00.
