How does it work then?
It’s a weatherproof, wireless security system that has a motion detector on one side and a speaker and LEDs on the other. There are two modes: Loud Mode and Mute Mode (also known as Stealth Mode). Should a person wander into your swim, breaking the invisible trip beam, the head, depending on what mode you’re in, will either illuminate those LEDs and emit a high frequency tone, or, if in Mute mode, it will trigger one of the many receivers you can have paired with it.
Is this one of those six devices you referred to earlier?
It sure is. The TH9s can be paired with any of the other ND Smart Technology devices, such as their range of bite alarm receivers, with the R9s in particular having its own channel to which you can register the motion sensor. It also works in cahoots with their Bivvy Light, which will glow a unique purple should the motion detector be triggered. You can also link it to their Headtorch, Smart Band, Air Light Sounder and Smart Bite Watch.
Sounds brilliant. Can you adjust those features?
The front LEDs can be turned on and off, and the volume of that high frequency tone can be adjusted via the linked up receiver.
What about if I’m fishing somewhere I can be approached from two or three sides?
That’s not a problem. Firstly, the sensor detects motions within a wide angle 140º scope. However, if that’s not enough coverage for you, then simply link up more TH9s. ND consultant, Mark Foster, fishes on rivers and canals a lot, so he has three paired up, meaning he’ll be alerted the moment someone approaches him from any direction.
