Slimline Tardis

Wanting to slim down your rod transportation? Speero has the answer: the Compact Rod Sling—it’s a rod holdall tardis! Having used one for the last few months, CARPology’s YT Presenter, Joe Wooltorton, answers all our questions

Image

As its product name suggests, Compact Rod Sling, is very slim, so how many rods can it comfortably hold?
Picture this as a mini quiver. But don’t let ‘mini’ warp your mind when it comes to how much it can hold. With four dedicated Velcro straps to retain rods, you can easily take a set of three plus a spod/marker rod.

Is there room for much else, though?
In short, yes. On the opposite side to the rods, there is a generous pocket and strap to hold at least one sling and underneath this there is another pocket which is perfect for bank and distance sticks. There are a further two smaller pockets which are ideal for net handles. All of which surrounds a generous central section that could easily hold wet nets thanks to its ‘stink bag, wipe-clean lining’.

What about my brolly/oval, though—or would I have to carry that separately?
The central compartment previously mentioned for wet nets would be able to house a lightweight brolly system. However, don’t expect to cram your Fox Ultra 60 with groundsheet in there and expect to get it back out.

Having used it for a while now, what is your favourite feature?
How compact it is, for how much it’s able to carry. It really does everything a quiver does but without the bulk.

And how good is the build quality?
This doesn’t even need to be a question. If it says Speero, then materials and build quality never need to be questioned. And just like their quality, the price point is always exceptional: just £39.95 and available in both DPM or Green.
