Small But Mighty

Fortis have shrunk their bestsellers…

Image

It’s often said that angling must do more to attract youngsters or face a slow decline in participation, but it’s easy to forget that most fishing equipment and accessories aren’t necessarily designed with juniors in mind. Thankfully, with this new release, Fortis are doing their bit to address that—these are their Junior Bays…

THE BIG QUESTIONS

Have I seen Fortis Bays before?
You probably have. The original Bays are the brand’s best-selling polarising glasses. But these are a slimmed-down version aimed at smaller faces. They’re not quite as ‘boxy’ as the bigger Bays, and the arms are slightly straighter, but they still have Fortis’s acclaimed lens technology.

So how are they ‘junior’?
Well, these are a smaller frame designed to fit younger anglers or those with smaller heads, but they also have a clever adjustability built in. The ‘Adjustable Temple System’ has three different settings, so these glasses can grow as your child does. In a world of built-in obsolescence, that has to be applauded.

That’s a great touch. What colours do they come in?
You can get a combination of transparent green or black frames with Fortis’s Green or Brown 247 Lenses, with ‘Fire’ or Gold Xblok mirror finishes—and all for just £14.99.

What’s Coming Next?
We grab Fortis MD, Darran Goulder, for a two minute insight into what’s coming next from the brand; here’s what he told us…

1. Minimal Capsule
“Loungewear has become super popular (partly due to being locked down for the best part of a year) and we’ve designed a “Minimal” capsule, which means you can look smart and be comfortable, without looking like you’re about to do the DIY! There’s a jogger, hoodie and a tee. Beautiful tones and minimal branding which is cut and fit for technical performance too (naturally!)”

2. More Sherpa additions
“Due to the popularity of our Sherpa Fleece, we’ve added three new garments into the ‘Sherpa’ range that will be dropping in the autumn. It’s the ultimate in carpiness, and you won’t want to take it off, on or off the bank!”

3. Extra Elements accessory
“We have added something to our ‘Elements’ accessory range… we brought you Elements gloves, neck warmers and a scarf, but there was one thing missing which we’ve now addressed!”

4. Something really special…
“Last but not least… we’ve been granted a license (very formal!) to create a truly monumental range of clothing… which is all I can say! This will drop later this year!”
