The Bars That Do It All!

Described by OMC owner Ali Hamidi as “the buzzer bar that covers every situation”, the new Elbowz aren’t just clever—they’re visually stunning too

OMC (One More Cast) love a collaboration, and this latest product/project—Elbowz—is with Cypography owner and big-fish angler, Elliott Gray. El’s first version of these bars dates back well over a decade but what you see before you is the result of refinery and feedback during the period. It’s a buzzer bar that allows you to switch between bars and single sticks, from a T-bar set-up to a goalpost one!

These look different! What’s the thinking behind them?
Culty, practical, bling, detailed—these are like no buzzer bars you’ve seen before! The idea is a simple one: an adjustable buzzer bar with removable fittings which enable you to position each buzzer head/butt rest where you need it. Want to fish your rods uber-tight with folder handles? No problem. Own the three-rod version but the venue you’ve just turned up on only allows two rods? Simply remove the third head. Want to fish two rods on the bars but one on a single bankstick? That’s possible too!

How easy are they to adjust?
Extremely. The bars themselves are made from solid 316 stainless steel or black anodised aluminium and the heads simply slide up and down their length, locking into one of the recess holes. Should you wish to fish one on a single set-up, then simply slide it off the bar and screw it into a bankstick! Oh, and with the Elbowz we are set for a new record claim for the ‘World’s Closest Rod Set-Up’ (an unofficial CARPology record), as you can screw in your Fox RX+ and then position them together with only millimetres to spare!

Do the thumbscrews really lock down well?
Very much so! They feature four-point thumbscrew heads, which means you can really clamp down on them to ensure zero movement. It’s also worth noting all bars are supplied with four thread caps which protect the threads whilst not in use.

What is the build quality like?
With prices starting at £74.99 for the aluminium version and £79.99 for the stainless, these clearly aren’t cheap and cheerful, fall-apart-after-one-season buzzer bars. The stainless is a 316 grade—a variety that provides superior corrosion resistance—whilst all the fixings (heads, thread caps and thumbscrews) are milled to the micrometre.

How does the range look?
Both types are available in 2 and 3 rod versions: 2 Rod Slim (6” and 5”), 2 Rod Std (8” and 7”), 3 Rod Slim (9.5” and 7.5”), 3 Rod Std (11.5” and 9.5”) and 3 Rod Wide (13.5” and 11.5”).

Finally, what is the weight difference between the 316 stainless steel and aluminium?
We’ll give you some comparisons. The stainless ‘3 Rod Wide’ weighs 1,005g, whereas the equivalent black aluminium is less than half that weight: just 444g. Both are extremely good-looking, but our preference has to be the black aluminium. It’s lighter and looks a million dollars.
