A Close Fought Battle!

The cast-4-Life charity match ends, but the battle continues!

As previously reported, the Palmer family, consisting of Ian (52), Vicki (44), Callum (21) and Nathan (20), organise and run a charity fishing match aptly named Cast-4-life in aid of Cancer Research UK every other year. They started in 2012 with just 6 anglers and are now an extended family of over 30 anglers.

This year’s match was held at Willow Park Fishery in Ash, Aldershot last weekend, with 30 anglers fishing. The match went well, with 20 fish out over the course of the weekend. The overall winning pair were Albert and Andy Maclaren with a total weight caught of 78.02lb. 2nd place went to Mike Walsh & Mike Grassick with a weight of 63.09lb, and 3rd place to Sam Nightingale of Sam’s Custom Hookbaits with a weight of 55.05lb. The biggest fish trophy went to Steve Grant with a fish weighing 25.12lb, and the smallest fish prize went to Lee Barry with a fish weighing in at 14lb. Most of the baits come in the night or early hours. The Willow Park team were as always supportive and helpful, and the food was top-notch, particularly the pizzas.

Although not all the money has come in yet it looks as though the final figure will be around the £4000.00 mark, bringing the overall total raised by Cast-4-life, since 2012 to around £29000.00.

The Cast-4-life team would like to thank everyone who has supported them and donated to the match and the cause with special thanks to Mark & Amy Renwick and James and Willow Park Fishery for being amazing supporters and hosts and to the following people and companies for their wonderful donations.
