Kryston Heavy Metal

The first tungsten putty is now better than ever

It’s hard to believe, but Kryston’s original tungsten putty is closing in on its 30th birthday. Having sold in the thousands and thousands across Europe, the product in those iconic little tins has been made even better after production moved in-house.

The Big Questions

WHAAAAT! This stuff is nearly 30-years-old?!
It sure is. Amazingly, the original Heavy Metal was introduced in 1990 and became the first lead-free putty on the market. It was an instant hit due to its size-to-weight ratio.

Has it changed since?
In 2006, the company who produced it closed down, so Kryston took the big decision to invest in their own machinery and produce it in-house. It’s now just as heavy but is more adhesive to your line or hooklink material, and easier to work with.

How should it be used?
Blobs can be moulded around your hooklink to pin it down, or counterbalance a buoyant hookbait, or you can use it further up the line to conceal your main line near your rig - just make sure it doesn’t impede the safety of your set-up. It’s available in Green, Brown and Dark colours, or as a Trio.

Is it that simple?
Absolutely. This stuff sticks like poo to a blanket. Work it in your hands to make it as adhesive as possible, then simply attach it to your line. In the coldest weather, popping the putty on your kettle as you make a brew will warm it up and make it even easier to work with.
